I reviewed the original post and don't see where we deserved to get flamed.

I should revise my payback scenario after reading

      "I have a 77 F 250 lbw 351M T-18, and possibly (depends on if my wife gets a truck) a 1979 F 150 Ranger ext cab Sb with a 300 I have yet to put in, and a C-6."

That pickup might get 15 MPG so the payback for a $600 festive would be about four months.

I couldn't take it any longer. Here is my post.
            Sentry wrote:
well I tell you what; those guys at Ford Festiva.com are smokin crack if they think i'm goin' to pay much more than blue book for a festiva there are plenty better cars out there that get reasonble gas mileage without getting stupid about the price because they get over 35 miles to the gallon. Besides I found me a 94 Corrola for with a little over 100k for 2500 in excellent conditon. I'm not knoking anyone who owns a Festiva but whoever heard of suping up a Festiva, thats a polished turd if you ask me Rolling Eyes

Sorry for rantin' fellas but people who charge that much for a little clown car whose only pupose in life is to get you from point a to b as economically as possible might aswell wear a turban on there head and be from the middle east

At any rate thanx to all, for the responces and the info I love to come to this websight for info and wisdom people hear are nice and accomidating even if it's not about a Ford inline six and eventually will be able to rsiprocate

            MY RESPONSE:

I am here specifically to defend the festiva, and to let you guys know the way sentry acted all nice at Fordfestiva.com and then came back here and disrespected us. I was just 2 faced and rude. Sentry said over at fordfestiva.com that he would be willing to spend around $1500 for a festiva. That is way above book which he turned around here and said he would never do. He says they get over 35 mpg? Try over 50. Here are a few other tasty numbers to chew on. The average lifespan is 300,000 miles. Sounds about like a good 300 straight six huh? There are 3 festivas I personally know of with over 500,000 miles. Did I mention that a stock 1.3 liter 5 speed festiva will do 113 mph?!? How about a 0-60 time of 10 seconds. Compare that to anything getting anywhere close to that fuel economy. He says he found a tercel. Lets see a tercel carry a lazyboy or a washing machine with the hatch closed like a festiva. I pulled a full size chevy out of the mud with my festiva. I'm not even done. How about a 1/4 mile time of 12.1 seconds? All it takes to achieve that is a 1.8 MAZDA motor from an Escort GT and a good turbo. How about bang for the buck stock or modified. You can't beat a festiva. I think it is the best car ever made for the following reasons, performance, reliability, economy, bang for the buck sleeper. One more thing. Run a festiva to 200,000 miles on the original timing belt, break the timing belt, change the belt, reset the timing, and go another 100,000 miles - non-interference engine FTW. Like I said the reason I am here is to defend a great car and to call out sentry for being rude. I am not here to start an argument, instead I am here to stand up for another forum full of nice people.

I never knew of a $2500 festy that wasn't showroom new or tuned up the wazoo. Where was this guy getting his info and he obviously hasn't driven a festy. I'm livin proof that owning a festy will change you. I went from gas guzzlin trucks and lovin them to lovin my little 91 festy. Probably the best car ever made. I drove it all the way from Florida in pretty rough condition and I didnt doubt the car once. He needs to get his facts strait.

Too awesome, way to go man, but looking at sentrys posts, I couldn't find the thread.....but I found the one where he first expressed interest, jims reply to it is classic in retrospect, before he advises to look here, in response to sentry saying he wanted one, jim says"I have 4, but none for sale"....I think thats close...
