  • Finally got my Festy

Without further adeiu, may I present... Pud! 92 Festy L, 5spd, A/C, just a tick over 100k miles. Many questions to follow. Was sitting unused and not started for a year. I put a battery in it and bang, fired right over. Dragged him home with the Durango and now it's time to freshen him up and ease up on my wallet a bit at the pump!

Miami Man, I have a few questions for you...

Thanks. He's a city car so he's got plenty of nicks and scrapes but he is, after all, a Festy. All it needs to do is run and get good gas mileage like my last one and I'm happy.

I gave $800 for it. Sounds high but they are definitely at a premium these days. But, it may not be all bad. She gave me a pack of receipts of work done in the year leading up to her parking it. New drums, rotors, pads and shoes, brake system flush, timing belt, serp belt, exhaust and cat, tires, alternator, battery, battery cables, etc. All told upwards of 3k spent on it. Then, the problem started. She said it started to simply die at stoplights and wouldn't crank (no lights, radio, nothing). She didn't want to mess with it so she replaced it.

Now get this... She said it wouldn't start, so I brought the tow dolly with me and a battery. I noticed right away that the cables were a little loose. Even with the swapped battery I couldn't get the cables tight on the posts. At first it wouldn't even crank but then I wiggled them and it fired. Do you think the loose cables could be the cause for the intermittent death at idle?

I am not familiar with any other than my own, and I realize it's kinda hard, but if you look at the first pic, his pud appears waaaaaaay shorter than mine! Must be that European L Minus model.

Off topic alert (although the topic and it's pud variants are a bit fuzzy, I know, fuzzy pud jokes to come).

                              Do these have ODB-II?
