  • Possibly the end of my Festiva

Some sad news this morning. Dad has been using my car the last few days and he smashed yesterday. Couldn't stop in time apparently. I'm a bit annoyed, but glad him and mum are OK.

Car is fully insured. I'm taking it in for assessing next week. I'd say they'll probably write it off, but I'm also hoping that there is a small chance that they will fix it instead.

It sux, as in the last few months I spent around $700AUD installing a new radiator and retro-fitting the air conditioning. Such is life though...

    Sorry to see that!
    Glad your Dad is alright!
    But that not bad damage.
You didn't even break the grill.
Here we hit deer, right Genevadirt, all the time and do more damage than that.
A new hood and head lights and she's drive able.
Later pull the bumper cover off and replace the polystyrene blocks under the cover an maybe replace the cover and your good to go.
On the off chance the steel substructure is bad just hit the salvage yard and get another full bumper, paint it and done.
Yours is too nice to let go to the scrapers.

sorry to see your car like that. If insurance company does write it off and pays you for it, turn around and buy it from them at salvage cost. It seems funny but they will do that and saves them the cost of having to have someone come and get it. Then take the money they give you and fix it up. Make sure your frame isnt bent thou. Glad your dad is ok

thanks guys. the grill is actually broken and so are both headlight covers. the radiator has also been damaged as there is a slight leak but i can't open the bonnet to have a proper look. i'd say the condensor would be damaged too as it is pushed into the radiator, but hopefully it (the condensor) is not leaking.

if they do write it off, i do plan to buy it back and try to fix it. new bonnet, bumper and radiator should do the trick. too bad new aftermarket radiators start at around $330 here in Aus. rip off.

It could be even worse ........

Could have gotten more damage like this parts car I recently bought last summer .........

Glad to hear no family members hurt with your Festiva crash.

I fixed this with a new core support, fender, lights and hood from the junkyard and had to straighten the fender support

Don't scrap it! Mine looked like this after hitting a deer:

$100 in parts later, it was back on the road:
