I could tell you the cost of recent upgrades (sound insulation, mazda door pockets, Honda armrests, new fuel pump, etc), but I've owned the car since new (1988), and couldn't even begin to calculate the total cost over the years (cost new + maintenance + fuel costs, etc).
I'm sure it's, you know, alot!

i really don't know how much i have into mine, a lot though
1988 323 Station Wagon - KLG4 swapped
1988 323 GT - B6T Powered
2008 Ford Escape - Rollover Survivor
1990 Festiva - First Ever Completed KLZE swap (SOLD)
If no one from the future stops you from doing it, how bad of a decision can it really be?

let me think:
purchase price: $1,675.00
new radiator: $330.00
new front struts: $230.00
new front tyres: $150.00
new driver's seatbelt: $80.00
CD/MP3 player: $90.00
CV Boots : $20.00
Air Con retro fit: $360.00
This is all in the last 6 months and I did all the labour myself, otherwise you could double all that if I'd had a shop do all the work.
Add registration and insurance: around $760 per year.Last edited by Unco; 01-15-2009, 09:06 AM.

I know I am into my fast festy for about $5000 now, well once it is painted. And all the others probably another $2000-$3000.90 festiva BP/G25MR swap, spec v seats, aspire brakes, FMS springs, round headlight conversion with HID's, custom exhaust, fiberglass hood, and a whole lotta bodywork

I broke even, meaning $0, for my BP/G25MR powered 88 LX with factory tach, tilt, LX seats, Cargo light, SWOOPY POWER MIRRORS, UNDER SEAT TRAY, FACTORY SPOILER, shift boot storage console,
15" Tenzo R senko's.
I pulled this off by buying a dead festiva LX for $150, an escort GT for $200, and an aspire for $250. Then I sold enough parts off of all 3 (festiva brakes, engine, and trans) to make as much as I've spent. I also traded a festiva for the swap job.
I still need to paint it, but I plan to do more trading to get the rust issue addressed, paint, and painting done.
I am at $0 and plan to be back to $0 when it is on the road, painted the way I want it.youtube.com/neanderpaul 88 festiva LX w/BP G25 MR 5 speed waiting for wiring- 93 Festiva GL auto w/ air, waiting for B6t/G4A-HL - 98 Nissan Quest - 02 Mazda protege 5 wife's DD

Let's see...
$500 for the car, plus $25 for a distributor cap, air filter, new headlight bulb, oil change and a radiator fan sensor.
I've put about 3,000 miles on my Festiva so far and it hasn't skipped a beat. But it will need all new brakes soon...

$500 for the green one
$450 for new struts
$300 in general maintenance parts
about $300 in labor for when Stefan was too busy
My new one is $2000
$90 for Split-rear seats
$20 for some Junkyard JBL 4" speakers
$85 for a new front bumper and driver's front panel (Front bumper had a crack in it and the fender had a tiny bit of rust)
