First a question. Wouldn't the runoff from that rusty hood leave a nasty orange streaking effect on the rest of your vehicle if you drove in wet weather?
Now the next trend...
To acheive the desired effect, simply unbolt your existing "un-cool" painted hood from your vehicle.
Take the hood to your yard, and simply place it over your barbeque - or if so inclined place overtop of the trash burning barrel.*
Ignite the fuel source and ensure adequate air can help fuel the fire.
In minutes your hood will have a simulated engine fire black spot, and better yet, if your lucky the metal may even distort! - Imagine the conversations you'll start,and the looks you'll get when you show them the beautiful char-free engine compartment!
