  • starting body work today

my dad owns a body shop (its what i grew up doing), and i have this week off of work, so i thought i'd get out there and try to get some work done on the newtiva. a few dents and some rust spots and she should be good as new. we will go with the original maroon, and i'll try to replace the LX red stripes to the bumpers before i'm done. i'll try to get some pics.

You gonna pull out that dent by the fuel filler with a stud gun or drill and slide hammer and then reweld? Nice progress so far....cut out all that cancer!

stud gun, is where its at! i could almost use a new hood, but i think we'll repair it. might leave it till last in case i find a nice one. theres no to much left of my drivers side rocker, i'm not to sure how far i'll go with that.

i just found out my wife still wants a mini cooper look (which i promised her for her other car) not to sure i'd like to do it with this car tho. whatcha think?

bought a fairly nice white hood at a JY. only 48,000 on the car b4 they wrecked it, no rust on the hood.

all the rust holes are now welded in. and large dents pulled. i ground down the welds and might be able to start bondo tomorrow. i'm not feeling the best lately, stupid sinuses

new hood with minimal damage and no rust.

i don't remember the brand of "body filler" off hand, (ez grip?) but theres a can of bondo brand there too if i want it.

didn't get a lot done today, but i did get the new hood lined up, and mounted. started the "bondo" work, and its a slow process. (i'm so used to fiberglass, metal is kinda different)
