I dont know if I would trust 2x4s to hold such precious cargo

I was thinking 2x6's with 2x4 's upright running down each side, maybe one in the middle underneath , also.

Are you just useing them as ramps to get on the trailer? Or as trailer decking?

If your just building ramps then i would imagine 2x4's should work, but as the trailer deck, then i'd go with your idea of using 2x6's with 2x4 bracing

Just as a cheap "ramp" to get on the trailer.I have to tow about 20-22 cars about 45 miles to my town.Getting tired of going out in bfe every week to pull parts,so,I want to bring them home, take all the good parts off and scrap the rusty ones.

I used wood ramps when I picked up and aspire...they were about 5 foot long....had no issues with it.

but did you use them for repeated use? I'm sure it would work once or twice but I can see the car half way up and the board cracking

i would use something like this:

The black parts would be 2x4s with the 4" being depth and the yellow bits would be a piece of 3/4" plywood that would be the part the tire touched. This would be an upside-down view.

I think a set of 2x6 boards with maybe a cinder block under them midway for support would work fine.

Probably, it's a Festiva. Wood has pretty good tensile strength as long as it isn't really old or something like that.

yes....they barely flexed, and the Aspire is heavier then the Festy so I would not hesitate to use them for that purpose. Unless they are old and cracked or something.

here's how i'd do this ramp setup with 2x4's.. orient them with the 2 (1.5" actual) down and 4 (3.5" acutal) vertical... a 2x4 is much stronger that way, then just nail 4 to 5 2x4's together every 1 foot or so..... this would be able to hold a festiva easily.

                              Like a makeshift 4x4?
