I am in search of a fuel efficient car because my current daily drivers 22 mpg is killing me. Theres a 92 Festiva thats not far from me I might buy. Its a 5 spd, 110000 mi, been resprayed, original clutch, and the top end has been rebuilt. The guy wont go any lower than 1000. What do you guys think of that? Too much?

For a Festiva, 110,000 miles is just broken in. If it's in decent condition (no rust, no dents, good interior) and the the top end has been rebuilt (ask for proof), $1000 isn't too unreasonable.

x2 For a $1000 thats not to bad, but you might be able to get it for less if you ask.

Im located in Moundsville WV. He was advertising it for 1500, I emailed him and he said he would take 1100, my dad called and he said he wont go any lower than 1k. He said there weas a little bit of rust above the rear wheel. I dont mind if the paint is not in good shape, and even a little rust. but I dont want to have to replace or patch every panel.

I have easily paid that for one that is in good running condition. The rust is unavoidable around here. Look in the fender well toward the door. The holes there, and the rust around the pivot for the suspension are what you need to worry about.

Welcome! When your looking for anything, it will always be too much. When you don't want one, they are sooo cheap. A grand isn't too bad if it is in good overall condition.
Check the tires. 12 inchers are not easy to find. They must be very good,IMHO.
Test drive it. Resist the urge to giggle because it is so much fun. Does it go through the gears smooth, in town and on the highway, and run well. Test the brakes well.
Know up front that Festivas and their parts are a challange to find.
On the positive side, they are really, really fun to own.

Wow, there are alot of people from WV.

What got me wanting a festiva was that when one of my friends got his liscense, his parents gave him a festiva because they knew he would kill it. He ramped it any time he got the chance, hit the readline everytime he shifted it, and just beat the hell out of the car. When he was odne with it, the car still ran fine and seemed mechanically solid. I was very impressed.

I feel better about buying one now that I know there are people that can give me some good advice! If its solid, I will most likley be driving it home on Sunday.

i paid 1500 for mine ....(yea it was a lil steep, but i needed a car).....it was SUPPOSED to be a new motor but two days after i brought it home and started driving it around the head gasket blew so now im doin a b8 swap.... ;')
