I never got the pleasure to meet or talk with Dean, but what people have told me like Zanzer and a few others that have talked to him or hung out with him at Festiva Madness he was one heck of a guy and he will be truly missed. RIP (festiva brother)

Guys, thank you from the bottom of my heart for your outpouring of love and support to me and my family. So many of your comments reminded me of great times we had together and all the wonderful people we have met.
Jennie, thank you for writing what I could not last night. Word escape me right now. And Angie and Angela and John, thank you for the organizing you are doing.
Sparky-we gave you friendship and you returned it 10 fold. Adopolis-it was so cold the day you came, I thought you would be frozen stiff by the time you guys got done. Tunner-I will never forget you tearing your car apart to show me how your funtop was installed! Spiko-what a way to make a new festy friend huh! Nate-we loved your visits and the help you gave Dean on the BP will not be forgotten. John-what can I say? You took us in and have become a great friend. Not trying to leave anyone out. I could spend all day commenting on each of you who have touched our lives if I had the time. Please don't think I am leaving you out, there are just so many!
Greg, you put so much work into getting everyone here for Madness. We were looking forward to the Florida trip and seeing everyone again and meeting new friends. I know Dean would not want the meet canceled, but I understand your decision and know your heart is not in it right now. Greg, you reschedule, and I will come.
Dean put his heart and soul into helping anyone he could with parts and encouragement. His love for these little cars and this community was only surpassed by his love for me and his family. I cherish every moment of the time we had together.

Barbara, you are in our thoughts in this difficult time. The Festiva community has lost a great friend and supporter. I can't tell you how shocked and saddened John and I still are. We are not that far away and are ready to help you in any way that we can. Again, we are so sorry........Pat

I could hardly comprehend it when Will called me with the bad news yesterday morning. I actually had to make him clarify beyond a shadow of a doubt by telling me “Dean Allen – V8Festiva”. Previously Will and I had planned to work on Will’s car and this was nowhere near in the realm of reality of what I was expecting to hear when he called. I suspect it was the same for many others as well.
Although I had talked to Dean on the phone and we corresponded through emails and PM’s a good bit, I hadn’t had the honor of meeting him in person yet and this was a major factor in why I was planning to attend the SC Mini-Meet no matter what.
I still remember the first time Dean and I ever talked on the phone. I got up on a Sunday morning, took my phone off the charger (full charge), and decided to give him a call to talk about some parts and things we had been discussing via PM’s. During that call he and I talked about everything; Fetivas, meets, old Fords, Harleys, you name it. We actually talked until the battery on my phone ran out. Even though this was the first time we had in reality literally spoken to each other it was as if each of us had known the other for years. From speaking with him and talking to others who knew him I believe this was one of the many amazing qualities about him. Whether he knew you for only 10 minutes or 10 years you were treated like an old friend and part of the family. That is a hard quality to find in today’s society and Dean had an abundance of it.
You could just tell from speaking with him that he had a passion for our cars, our community, and people overall that was without equal. He was an icon of our car culture and anyone who knew anything about Festies knew (or at the very least knew of) Dean and the countless wonderful things he did, the lives he touched, and the many people he helped bring together.
My deepest sympathy and condolences go out to his family and those who were close to him. Our community, and the world as a whole, has definitely lost one of the “Great Ones” who will be profoundly missed.Last edited by Zanzer; 03-15-2010, 01:51 PM.
