We have a British car restoration place down here in Arkansas. I went there and asked them if they had any old Mini's to see how small they really were. The guy took me out back to a small corner in the "junkyard" and there sat the most rusted shell of a vehicle that could stand on its own 4 wheels. I looked it over and he must have thought I was wanting a project. He broke the silence with "It looks a little rough but we are in the process of rebuilding the motor. If you'd like I can show it you". So I went in the shop and he showed me a piece here and a part there. All of them were so rusted I was surprised that they got them apart. It looked like they had made progress on the block and rotating assembly though. Then we went back out front and looked at a few TR-7's, TR-6's, and a few other cars that he'd restored. As I was leaving he looked me straight in the eye and said "I would sell her to you right now for $1000." I asked "What car?" thinking of the TR-7 we had seen that had a torn roof and a little rust here and there. And he said "The Mini". To this day I can't tell if he was joking or not, but I haven't been back.

I was looking at the Mini place Matt posted gomini.com and the place I posted classicbritishminis.com, and the cars that are listed as "sold" at Classic British Minis are now listed at Gomini.com. I wonder if the place by me moved or went out of business. There were a couple of cars that really stood out, One of a kind. I know, I've seen some of the myself and can't believe that there would be 2 of them. I'll have to call and see.

Pretty cool stuff , 165 hp., 0-60 in 5.0 sec , sounds like fun stuff right there now , but even though I like the older one 's, I would not mind having the s/c model in a new one.

Minis are the reason I got my second Marvin. My fiance' and I in one night watched both versions of "The Italian Job". At the end of it I told him I wanted a classic Mini. He said no because he wouldn't be able to fit into it (6'6", 360lbs) and I informed him that was why it would be MY car.

The argument went on for several months and then I started looking at Festivas again and with a wicked grin I showed him my current Marvin on the net and told him "Buy me that and I'll forget the Mini."

$800 later we were both content.

Though I would still like a classic Mini.

$800?!?! Wow you really got a good deal if it's mechanically sound. Paints not screwed up, I really couldn't see any dents or cracks in the glass. Plus you got a Skull shifter knob!
