Probably a Mk1 Turbo Swift 1.0L. That's what I was looking for when I found my Festiva. Either that or a Mk1/2 Turbo Colt/Mirage 1.6L.

      2005 Mini Cooper S

Most likely Ford Escape with the 4cyl. A Mini or Volkwagen Beetle isn't out of the question though.

Why the Protege motor? The Probe Turbo motor or the apparently bulletproof Kia Sportage FE3N with a turbo would be better for torque.
              Current cars:

1993 Ford Festiva 5-Speed - Festiclese III - Cousin of the Banhammer - "The Jalopnik Car"
              1984 Toyota Cressida - 2JZGE Swap, Turbocharged.
2013 Mazda Mazda2 - Exhaust and Wheels (the daily)
              2002 Toyota Tundra - V6/Auto/2WD - The Tow Vehicle.

First choice Toyota Echo. Or, second choice, 2004 or 2005 Kia Rio, although the newer Rios and Accents look good to me.

Third choice maybe a ZX/2 or a Focus sedan.

I have been fancying the Yaris S. I know it isn't quite as fuel efficient as a Festiva but they are growing on me.

1990-94 Hyundai Excel. Since it uses Mitsubishi drive line components, I'd install a 4G64 with a 4G63 head (dohc). Then add a turbo.
Festiva: Because even my dog can build a Honda.

I was driving a 1983 Dodge Colt when I first bought a Festiva...driving-wise, they are quite similar. Loved the car, but it used a lot of oil....my fault, of course. We bought our first Festy and liked it so much, we bought another one.

                                That or a Toyota Echo....
