I will post some picks of my interior mirrors (I have one HUGE rear-view mirror, and two smaller convex mirrors on the sides). I have no exterior mirrors at all.....

Now that's interesting below 50 mph/80kph your rolling resistance is more than your air resistance. Where as in my case having to operate at 60mph/95Kph they contribute nearly equally to total drag.
So we both need to make sure our tires are properly inflated.

Darlo, check out my last few entries, I expect a jump in MPG, or at least I think I'll get one.
Aero mods would help so much!
A truncated boat tail should be worth something MPG wise on our "brick".
Maybe I should consider put an OEM spoiler on it.

Yeah and our C sub d has got be a good bit higher than the miata.
So would expect the crossover point to be lower for the festiva meaning aero mods become effective at a lower speeds.

Well I havent posted up here in a long time but i think 6 fill ups should prove a point that lowering your festy 2 inches or so helps

Plus living at 5200ft and driving to 7400ft at work, all of my driving is in the eastern sierra nevada. Wait till i get stationed at another base where the drives are flat.

Well I havent posted up here in a long time but i think 6 fill ups should prove a point that lowering your festy 2 inches or so helps

Uh, I agree it will, but looking at your Fuelly data I can't really tell if there was an increase!
Do you have baseline data?

I lowered only the front of one of my Festivas via FMS lowering springs and noted an increase in MPG as well.

Simple side skirts made from say a sheet of 0.125" thick stiff plastic and as low as you dare let them hang, attached to the body stiffener (that run down both sides of the car) would help too.
This would keep air from whirling under the car, and you see and even higher increase.
To bad I didn't grab some of this before I left my job.
Might still be able to get some though.
Have to see.

Hopefully you can take advantage of the altitude and use lower octane/cheaper fuel.

A 4x8 foot sheet of coroplast from a sign shop would do the job well. Some self tapping screws and washers and screw it right down to the subframes like you said.

Not certain the coroplast will be stiff enough, but could have collected political signs, some of then pretty large, for free and overlapped them to get a stiffer skirt.
What I like about this is if you go a little too low it will grind it self down to a useful level, or get ripped off, but it's cheap and I really think it would help.

I did work at a PVC and PVC/Acrylic alloy sheet extruder and could have gotten whatever thickness I wanted in nearly any color, not that color matters, but too late.
Still might get a friend to send me some and see what could be done!
