  • Importing a Canadian car into the US

    I'm wondering,

can you import a car from Canada into the US if it is less than 25 years old?

If no one from the future stops you from doing it, how bad of a decision can it really be?

      No,

my web research seems to make it out as *very* difficult. Emissions standards, bumper standards, regulatory inspections, etc, etc...

I'm looking to see if people on the forum have done so successfully, and what it entails.

Well if it helps when I brought my GTX across the border they didn't give me any troubles, since it is more then 15 years old, I didn't have to pay for any importing paperwork, where I believe if it was 15 years or newer I would of had to pay a small fee for the paperwork, and then the duty, the customs people didn't even inspect the car

That's what I'm thinking, but instead of the 15 year thing it could be 25 years for importing to the US so just a little added cost going into the states

It can be done because I bought a Festiva here that came from Canada.
