Drove to festiva madness from pittsburgh yesterday.
Then back today.
I think round trip 978mi
Averaged 30mpg the drive there.
And 36 the drive back.
The way there was more uphill.
And the way back was more downhill.
Average speed was 70-75
With occasional peaks of 90-95mph
Couldnt help but stuff it once in a while.
It was the first real long drive I've taken in the past year.
And it was nice.
Got to finally put some faces to screen names.
It was a nice journey.
Next stop will be ohiostiva hopefully.

Went out today and started pulling out of my parking spot and within 15ft of slow accelleration.
I noticed something was wrong.
Something was "holding the car back" from moving forward freely/efficiently.
So I stopped and hopped out and my left rear tire was flat.
These tires maybe have 8,000mi.
I kick my tires about once or twice a week to make sure they are inflated.
So I reparked my car
And took the corolla to the parts store.
Picked up a tire repair kit.
Drove back and got my aspire.
Drove it at almost idle to the gas station at the end of the block on my street.
The tire had partial pressure so it wasn't fully flat.
Jacked it up by the air station
filled the tire so when the screw was removed
the tire wouldn't lose all of its pressure and lose its bead.
Because the tires are slightly stretched.
Removed the screw.
Reamed the hole with the tire reamer.
Got the patch needle threaded with the tire patch.
Goobered it with rubber cement and applied/installed the patch.
Problem solved.
But on a side note I found the culprit of a lack of high mpgs.
As I went to reinflate my tires for the first time since I bought them.
I found the max pressure and it was 44psi.
And the tire store when I bought them told me the max was 35 so I though 32 would be fine.
But they were just idiots I guess.
So I went ahead and reinflated all my tires to 40psi
And now everything feels solid.
And rolling resistance has been reduced.
As well as it takes less throttle to get up to speed again.
I should be in the mid 30-40mpgs now that that little variable has been fixed.
Moral of the story is.
Don't trust the workers at the tire shops.
They are not very good at reading a tire apparantly.Last edited by rmoltis; 10-06-2013, 12:58 PM.
