  • Ordered a Intermediate pipe from Rockauto, and went to autozone and ordered a muffler. So next week I should have a proper exhaust on the car, not some 2" aftermarket deal that is rusted all to hell. Going to coat my new exhaust in exhaust paint, so then the only corrosion will be from inside due to condensation.

With that attitude there will eventually be no more Festies left in the Rust belt.

    • ^My current one came from PA, and the floor is going quickly as well as being in a wreck before I got it and other things. Just not worth losing any hair over. I have a mint shell that I'll swap stuff over to probably next spring or summer. Till then it's the handyman's secret weapon all the way.
Any difference that makes no difference is no difference.

      • I would find moving everything to a new shell to be more work than fixing the rust. Also finding a rust free shell off a car that isn't expensive is nigh impossible, and if you do you will have to travel a ways to get it.

        • Wow, looks like I will get the Intermediate pipe sooner than I expected, lol. Aparently one of rockauto's exhaust warehouses is in Ohio, and that is where it is being shipped from.

Ordered early Friday, shipped out at 6pm Friday, Estimated Delivery is Saturday.
I won't have the muffler from Autozone until next Tuesday.

Guess I can still fit it to the car until then. :p

At least the B3 is a very quiet motor in terms of exhaust noise. Unlike those damn Suzuki 1.0l 3 bangers in the metros/swifts/fireflys.

          • I'll listen to a v8, only if both banks are Xed together.

V8 with true duels sounds hideous. Pair of 4 bangers fighting each other. Rates side by side with 3 cylinders in my book.

                Kinda rare I guess
                I'd agree, that's rare.

                  • Got my JY trans installed, along with trans oil cooler & RIO struts as well as some misc. Didn't have the time to install the JY front bumper though.

Anyone know offhand if the 2dr & 4dr rear bumpers are interchangeable?

                      • Not what I did to the Festiva but with... took a drive up to Canmore for the afternoon with Sharon. Took Highway 1A instead of the main highway, the Trans Canada. Watch for a blog post under Favorite Drives part 2 coming soon.

                        • Cut off the cat on the '89.. runs a lot better. A lot of my trouble was an 80%-filled converter.

                          Plus, now it sounds awesome.

                          • I installed the missing stainless LF brake hose that I found on my trip last week to Port Huron. I was looking for it for three years before I finally found it. I opened the Kia Pride package for the roof reinforcement no. 1 (M D001 70 671). I noticed it does not have the three mounting holes for the Escort dome light. Only two collinear holes. I will let everyone know if it fits. This is for extra stiffness in the roof. It also does not have any mounting holes on the flanges. I will have to drill. Perhaps Prides were spot welded and Festivas were screwed on. I would be willing to bet that Ford originally planned for Escort dome lights in the Festivas.

                            • Mmm, roof support. Then I wouldn't fee asl bad putting my late-'70s roof rack on it loaded with stuffz. It's nearly the size of the Festiva itself!

                              • Replaced the old single hole windshield sprayer with one that spays four jets on Trixie. Works much better now.
