Nice - specs on the company you work for?

I just got out of a job working in network administration for 15 offices, 200 employees/computers and about 60 servers (~95% of them virtulized with VMware).

Now I signed on with a much smaller mom/pop PC repair business in town. I've known the owner since my family purhcased our first computer WAYYYYY back when... We work with a variety of small businesses in the Central PA area that range from rigs still running NT/W95 machines, to some SBS 2011/W7 rigs. We offer a ton of different services and it keeps us busy... Plus, normal PC cleanup for home customers, new computer builds, etc, etc.

Retired as of October 2, 2010 after 45 years working in the world of mainframe computers.
Two years Junior College prior to joining USAF, four years of full time Tech School while working full time after USAF. Six years of college, but only attained Associate Degrees.
(The GI bill was a great thing for a young fellow with a wife and two small children back in the 70's.)

Some of my employers during my career: USAF, McDonnell Douglas in St. Louis and Denver (now Boeing), Rockwell International (original Space Shuttle Primary contractor, also now Boeing), Parker Hannifin, Textron Lycoming, Draper-Texmaco (Textile Machinery) Flagstar(now Dennys Restaurants), and IBM.

Worked as a consultant for MCI (the phone company), Mastercraft (textiles), Milliken Corp. (textiles and chemicals), Burlington Industries (textiles), PYA/Monarch (food distributor).

For the 10 years just prior to my retirement, I worked for Berkeley County Government (Tax Systems Programming). And my wife is a retired first grade school teacher.

Before retirement, I really enjoyed my jobs and all but a couple of the different working environments. Didn't enjoy it as much when I had to travel.

Retirement, so far is great.
Considering the current economy, I'm hoping my kids and grand kids (and you young folks here) are able to retire and get by as well as we do at our age.

I do maintenance at our county animal shelter. I do electrical, hvac, painting, i fix the cages that either the animals or people break. I work on washer and dryers, and do plumbing. I also do irrigation and landscaping. Im thinking seriously about finally retiring in Oct, course my first retirement was in 87 from the Air Force, but still had to work to support my habit, life.

oh yeah? i just got done working on my sister in laws 02 SLK320 and had the trans leak.... but you would never guess- it wasn't the trans connector or pan gasket (shift interlock boot didn't apply to this 722.618 ).. it was the little .5 inch seal that connects to the shift linkage.... have you done that seal before with the trans in the car? it was... well..... fun..

I'm currently searching for a job.
I've worked in fast food. Nothing impressive.

My main interest is computers. I've been messing around with them for years. Back in Montana, I had a setup with two client laptops and 9 servers machines. I've messed with Windows 3.1, NT, 98, 2000 Pro, XP, Vista, 7, Server 2K, Server 2K3, Server 2K8.
Networking and hardware is my specialty.

My desired profession is truck driver. I'm waiting until I turn 21 in November, then I am going to driver training and going on the road. I can't wait. My favorite times are when I drive between Dallas, TX and Libby, MT. I love being on the road for days with just myself.

Security Officer for a local children's hospital. Defiantly not as easy as you'd think.. pissed off parents.. kids with mental issues requiring restraints... and 2000 woman in 2 city blocks PMS city. Some days it's the living version of hell.

My brother is a network guy in PA... I think the company is called Broadview networks? or something...

I work for the Marine Corps as a Heavy Equipment Mechanic. Pretty much any kind of construction equipment you can think of I work on it, or use to. Now I am more of a supervisor (paper pusher). Not exactly my cup of tea, but its job security. I am also a father of four and a beginner welder.
