The time I had the speedometer needle nearly pegged over to the right, and that started jumping around all the time; was freaky when I pulled into a freeway rest area the next of those I found after the rain had stopped enough to adjust the clutch, right?

Where once thinking the mechanical process through, I figured out the reason the speedometer needle was jumping around was the front wheels were spinning, loosing traction hydro-planing. The car was rock steady, so really not a problem. And the clutch needed adjusting anyway.

A lonely stretch of I-5 north of Portland, OR south of Chehalis, WA at around three in the morning; which is nearly always rainy except a few weeks during the summer.

Shows what you passed on. And what you know. Or don't. 75 mph can be hit in 3rd gear in a festiva. Then you have two more gears to hit 113 mph. That's stock. 181.85 kph. Stock.

So 120kph is a Sunday drive for a festiva.

I have no doubt it could hit those speeds, but the fact it went passed me barely making a noise is what got me, i was in a Ford Mondeo and the festiva sounded like it was reving lower than what the mondeo was lol.

I had to pass on the festiva at this point, it just wasnt financially viable to keep it and register it etc as repairs and registration would of cost me another $1200.

I used to think they were a big piece of crap before i owned one, next year when i can look at getting a car a Festiva will be on my list. a WA model anyway... i dont like the WB.

I had mine up to 80 on a backroad as I matched some dude on a crotch rocket, then realized as he kept pulling past 90, downhill, into a turn, that this is also one of the biggest speed traps on the island, needless to say I hauled it in back under the 50mph limit

Even if you put $2000 in it it would pay for itself in fuel, insurance, and durability savings in very short order.
