I am glad it did, I had just installed it and a new water pump the night before. And I already have a replacement car here and ready. The fire damage was to extensive to deem it safe for highway use again.

OK, then we must do our duty and strip all useable parts, down to nuts and bolts, and transfer them to a new car, which must be yellow and adorned with all the same decals!

That's terrible, sorry for your misfortune. Hindsight is 20/20 but I have a fire extinguisher in all 3 of my vehicles within reach. Especially with an older vehicle you never know when a critical part may fail and cause a fire.

                Glad you're OK Barb.

That guy's t-shirt is just too amazing!

+1 on either rebuilding it, or reincarnating it with its parts into another shell.

So sorry to hear about 42, but very, very happy to hear you're OK, Barbara!

Jay is of course correct about the fire damage rendering the vehicle no longer roadable, regardless of the technical possibility of repairing / rebuilding the car. YOUR continued safety is the most important consideration.

Glad you're ok Barb! So Sorry about the 42
It might not be road worthy, but why not make it a research and development car? It could always be pulled to the meets (FM*). It would be fun to see what ideas people would want to try on it. I guess basically a non road worthy show car is what I'm thinking.

Do you really think so??? I've seen you resurrect some cars from worse than this! I'm with these guys.... Yank the motor and all the parts that need to be replaced and let's rebuild it!

I don't wax nostalgic often... but this is the car that Dean loved the most. I don't know about you guys, but I'm not ready to see it stripped and torn apart. I'd be willing to get dirty over madness to fix it!

To me, 42 is like Optimus Prime... the leader of Festivas! Having 42 at madness is almost like having Dean there with us. I don't know... I'm just sentimental like that.

Im gonna have to say maybe the fuel line burst drenching the engine and spark plug and or disty in fuel igniting the fire. Would really love to see this car rebuilt.

Glad to know you're alright. Sad to see it in such sorry shape.

If you guys are serious about rebuilding it, don't forget you'll need a new wiring harness. I'm sure it's toasted with all the insulation burned or melted off.

Well, the harness and brake master cylinder... etc.
