  • Japan spec festiva gtx details.

    Hi guys.

Does anyone on the festiva family own an original Japan spec gtx?

Does anyone have any photos of an original gtx engine bay?

Being in Australia, our cars are rhd.
I'm having trouble with my brake Mc clashing with the cam gear cover of my b6t if left in the standard location.

Currently my only solution is to shift the engine forward and use a lower profile Mc. But even then. I am losing my AC.

I am told (but am unable to find solid evidence) that the jap spec gtx had a dohc motor (b3 dohc???).

I'm hoping to find confirmation for or against this claim.

If it is a dohc. Could someone post a link or a photo of the gtx engine bay so I can see how the naps got the engine to miss the Mc and retain the AC compressor.

AC is the only creature comfort I was hoping to keep.

Thanking you in advance for your help on this guys.

    Maurice

The 1.3 DOHC was designated the "BJ" engine

      1988 323 Station Wagon - KLG4 swapped
      1988 323 GT - B6T Powered
2008 Ford Escape - Rollover Survivor

1990 Festiva - First Ever Completed KLZE swap (SOLD)

If no one from the future stops you from doing it, how bad of a decision can it really be?

            Shakes Head.

I have found there are many different configurations of AC compressor. Some use the Sanden unit with the manifold on the top, saving precious front end space.

Does this gtx have air shocks? What are the caps on the strut towers?

                Excellent!!!!

But is this car left hand drive?
Because the brake booster and Mc are on the left.

I wonder how the japs were able to fit the Mc behind the motor?

What is the length of you mc (from booster to front)?

Thanks so much for the photos! Nearly brought a tear to my eye.
                I love rarities.

These 1.3 DOHC engines might appear to be B3s but they aren't. Whole different ballgame

I want a photo of a rhd one. But the one in the photo seem to be LHD judging by the location of the brake booster.

They're a short stroke version of the b5 and b6 dohc.

See those covers on the front shocks? They are available here, however, I can't put one on my right hand side because the A/C condenser line and power steering line both go directly over it.

I found soft rubber compression-fit caps (can't remember what type of Japanese/Korean car they were on) that work like a charm, and even look like OEM.
