Front turbo oiling consists of approx 1.5' of supply line and about 1.5' of return hose.
Rear turbo oiling system consists of car length supply line and car length return, which isn't a big deal, but you also need a pump to push it back and a turbo timer to keep the pump running to scavenge as much oil as possible from the lines to keep oil from from sitting in the bearing housing and coking which will kill the bearings over time.
A turbo is more efficient when its closer to the engine. Heat = energy (thermodynamics!). Combustion gasses start cooling and contracting as they leave the cylinder and a section of pipe doesn't transfer pressure instantaneously since a gas compresses, unlike water. If its just for fun like 95% of us here slap a turbo wherever you want and enjoy it. Either way will put a smile on your face for sure. When you see high hp turbo builds you typically see equal-length tubular manifolds feeding divided inlet turbines which add up to more efficient flow and faster spool.

Probably will remove spare tire well and put all the turbo junk there with a muffler. I like quiet. I really like this RT idea.
Sounds good Matt (Zoom Zoom). Going to be a slow project so as to not surprise the wifey with sticker shock.
Thank for the ideas and comments everyone. Keep them coming and "It's all good fun". I like fun threads best.-Bryant

My first setup cost around $300. I bought all used parts, and I used a 12:1 fmu, and an inline fuel pump as a make shift fuel system-Greg

What I really should be doing is be working on building an engine for the next car. 10 or 11:1 forged BP with fully ported head big valves all balanced, decent ball bearing turbo blah blah. 250-300hp running through my built automatic on megasquirt in a CLEAN body should make me happy.91GL BP/F3A with boost

You won't be happy, with an auto, but it should be fast.
Rocketman, I use a gear type carburetor fuel pump from summit. It's been on mine 50k, with no issues. I've read so much online about people having pump problems, even sts says theirs is only good for about 12k
And I have considered a stand alone oil supply, but it needs the pressure to "float" the shaft. High pressure pumps seem to be more expensiveLast edited by eurotiva; 10-10-2013, 10:07 PM.-Greg
