You might try doing that cubstiva, it would be easier to hear the pump running w/o the engine cranking plus you could go back and listen by the tank w/o holding the key in crank position.

ok i didn't follow any of that. it the "fuel pump self test connector" under the hood on the drivers side, behind the battery, near the brake reservoir? how would i ground it?

man i sound dumb, like i don't know anything.

jam a piece of wire in it, and touch the other end to ground

The connector should be to the right of the master cylinder as you are looking in the bay. There are four or five other connectors there too. I think you want the one with the black wire going to it, but Im not positive about that, maybe someone else will know.

Freshtiva, Do you have the diagram of the wiring in the engine bay to post. with the fuel pump test connector and the self test? connector.

Yes, that is the fuel pump relay that I replaced. Mine was slightly pitted but still worked ok. I relaced it cause I found a good deal on one, I think on "Advance Auto Parts" on the web, the price was cheaper than in the "Advance Auto parts" store.

Cool, its just as I thought. I guess I did have a pic of the connector but not the procedure. Im going to make a copy of that. I guess the jumper just completes the ground. What are the color of the two wires going into the connector?? Or is it the only two pin connector ?
