ok .
im not getting any spark at all and at the same time no fuel going to the cylinders.
tested using cylinder 1 ( closest to fan belt).
i checked the fuses in the fusebox and all where good
yes i do have a nearly full fuel tank btw .
held spark plug in several positions from major metal ground parts starting at half and inch and worked all the way down to touching the outer metal part against ground to see if inner part would jump like it should.. nothing there. so next had the wife turn the key a few more times and i was getting air but no fuel at all fron the cylinder even to the point of sticking my finger almost in the hole .
would it be that some comouter part that tells the fuel pump or injectors and the coil to fire are the same and controlled at the same point ?
it might be a good explination for the way it acted. it acted as if the key was pulled out . no sputtering or backfiring just running to off instantly.
been here about 2 years. got my commercial multi engine pilots license in nov. and havent flown since. i live across the street from the big post offince on bill france at the harbor. i work 9pm to 7am at the shell on nova and belview just south of the dmv and police station.
btw its embarrassing having to ride a bicycle past all these guys durring bike week when im on my way to work

Did you goto ERAU? I moved form dayton aprrox 4 1/2 years ago, so I guess I do not know you.... I am so glad not to have to be dealing with Bike Week right now, it is fun, but man, you just don't get any sleep for 10 days!!!
Ok, so there are a few things that could be wrong, since you have both no spark and no fuel.
My initial thought is the timing belt has broken. It is fairly easy to remove the upper cover, and just look at the belt. That is not very likely in your case, however, since you got it to start back up, as I just went back to read through your posts.
Could also be the the crankshaft position sensor, on the bottom of the disty on the festy. I would eliminate the fuel pump, or delivery system, as you also have no spark. Joe may have been right with the ignition module, or main relay (I think joe suggested both). Obviously, checking all the wiring for connectivity and continuity would be first, and easiest. I would then check the cps, only problem is, I don't have a service manual, so I don't know how, but I am willing to bet someone here does.
Thanks again for doing that check, as it really begins to narrow down your problem. I bet a $5 donation to FF.com that you end up having to replace the disty to replace the CPS(any takers?), but lets see if we can get a test procedure first. Working at shell and living at the harbour aren't conducive to spending unneeded cash....
Just in case it is, this place is listing one used for $45.00
but they are about 90 miles from you...
Anybody know how to test the CPS?Contact me for information about Festiva Madness!

the cps itself when i went to clean it was already pretty clean and the magnet still pulled on it . dont know about how much gap its suposed to have ( its kinda like a brush piece looking) i did replace the ignition module and it didnt help ( took back the new ignition module and coil since together they where about 220)
as for the relay i just need to know where to test it at
i also kinda doubt its the timing belt as well.
from what i understand , once power hits the coil, when it comes out of the coil isnt it suposed to be a lot more than 12 volts? like hundreds or thousands, OR is it just suposed to up the amperage?
i went to phoenix east aviation which was on west side of runway 16 across from ERAU . could never afford to go to ERAU unless i get my instructor ratings and then get hired there to teach

The way to check the coil is to measure the primary winding resistance. This is done by measuring the ohms between the two terminals. That is according to haynes. Not a bad idea, to check the coil, but another way to narrow some things down is to pull the coil to dist wire, and check it the same way you checked the plug, looking for spark.
The reason I think of CPS, however, is the fact that you are ALSO not getting any fuel, and a bad coil would not keep you from getting fuel.
Yah, I am familiar with phoenix, not a bad shcool from what I have heard, and who can afford riddle, unless they have extremely rich parents to foot the bill, or are willing to go into debt till their great grandkids die?Contact me for information about Festiva Madness!

^^WTF?? I'm guessing those are original struts?? Pretty bad shape. Hope you were going slow, close to home when they let go.

^^Was wondering that as well. And Dan, I don't think that it's high voltage, I think you are right, it's high amperage. And I tend to agree about the CPS. But, never having owned an fi Festy, I will defer to those who have.

lol that is probably what my struts look like.
i did the main lead wire going from the coil to distributor before and got no spark as well about a week ago, also tried it the opposite pulling from the coil while it was attached to disty with same results( thats how the old guy did it but i thought the voltage would be coming from the coil so didnt think it made sense)

Which coil do you have, does it look like a small black box
, or a cylinder?Contact me for information about Festiva Madness!

i checked coil just to make sure by using ohms and its good. main lead to disty is .65 ohms btw . coil generates about 10.2 volts on cranking.
not that that is the problem because i think we have it more isolated twards a relay, wiring , cpm , or other computer thing .
btw once this is all done can i ccut the belt to the AC pump for better efficiency or does other stuff run of that belt?
( saw the car AC episode of mythbusters and since my ac has a leak somewhere and i just roll down windows might as well )
