The 155/80-13 should nolt give you a flase reading on your speedo....same size tire as the 155r12...center is only differance.
The 155-13s are 1/2 inch taller than the 155-12s, so they will slow your speedo down quite a bit. The tire section is indeed the same, but the wheel is one inch larger diameter. Thus, from the hub center to the ground it would be half an inch taller in ride height.

Double check this by going to Tire Rack and checking the Kumho specs for 155/80-12 and 155/80-13. The first is 21.8" overall diameter vs. 22.8" OD for the 13" version.

The Yoko AVS ES100 in 185/60-14 was 22.7" in OD.

Now compare this to the stock Festiva 145/80-12 size (Yoko Y732) tire OD at 21.5".

The larger two tires are thus 1.5" larger diameter, making them about 3/4" taller in ride height.

Sorry, I forgot that there were two different stock tire sizes. The 165/70-12's are available at Tire Rack.

              What size Kumho's, the 155/80-12?

I checked Wallyworld and they don't have the 155/80's or the 165/70's.

I also found that Summit Racing has the 165/70 Yoko's for $50 with flat $10 shipping.

Guys, you know the base model stock tire size was 145/80-12, don't you?

                Try all the following:

145/80-12 stock base model tire, on 4.0 wide rims

165/70-12 LX and GL stock tire on 4.5" wide rims (steel and alloy)

155/80-13 is the most common replacement size

There are one or two other odd 12" sizes for original Minis which are sometimes seen but probably not suitable for our cars.

I'm rather proud of this: I'm one of the main reasons the Kauffman locations in my area (Lawrenceville, GA) carry 12 inchers. They were actually discussing it at a meeting, and the manager of the location I usually hit mentioned that they had "this guy with a Festiva that's been a customer for ages," and so they needed to keep 12's available.

Amazing what 10 years or so as a customer can do...
