        Mine started in a gear , then went to another , then another .

        I had all the bearings replaced in the trans , my noise went away .

          I agree that it must be a bearing now. Is it good enough to keep driving, or shouild I rebuil/replace?

            My guess is throw-out bearing or pilot bearing.

                My guess is throw-out bearing or pilot bearing.
                Wouldn't that make it whine in all the gears? I think bearings in the transmission is the right call. Drive it till it quits and then replace the tranny. That is what I would do because I am too lazy to fix things unless they are broken to the point I can't use them.

                    If it's just a light whine and it's full of lube, it'll probably outlast you.

                          The last time I drove it, it still had a bit of a whine. I am still trying to get it from the ex-wife in the divorce.
