nice work. the first pic is from the passenger side of the car and the 2nd pic is birds eye view. You can see the carb opening/top on the left side. Any ideas on what this open nipple should be connected to?

On mine, one goes to the back of the carb, one goes under the intake and hooks to one of those little metal tubes, and the other goes to the EGR valve thing to the pass. side of the carb, the spigot with an orange 1 on it.

can i get a visual on that? I've inspected my whole system and cannot see any place where a vacuum hose should be connected but isnt....

Sorry, my cameras broke, but if you look at the carburetor from the front of the car, on the left side, close to the carb, there should be a round device wit 3 vacuum lines plugged into it. I think the tee you are looking at should go to the one that has an orange mark and a "1" on it. Hope I could help!

I think you might be on to something there. Batstiva (an 88L) was plumbed as far as vac line are concerned, a lot differently from an 89L I test drove while I still owned her. Don't know if the 89L had stuff removed, or what, but the spiderweb was definitely different between the two of them.

And I can't use my new 89L for comparison, because all that mess is gone on this one.

I added a photo to my profile for you to refer to. I mean, the line is above the line with the orange stripes that connects to the #1 arrow of the 3.

So yours doesn't have the orange striped wire connecting to the carb above another wire? all i know is that when i cover the exposed nipple, it runs like hell and my check engine light comes on and off...

I would strongly suggest you get on Ebay and buy the Ford serivce manual and electrical vacuum manual for your car. You can find the set for around $25-$30.
