    So no manual for reference?

What about the other unmolested side?

Use the Search option above and look for brake pics, I'll do the same.
If I find it I'll post it here.

Maybe the Mod of this forum will take pity and provide a pic.
It's not difficult it can't go but so many places.
A pic would make it easy, describing it is more difficult.

thanks guys. it turns out for some reason the hardware kit i have comes with an e brake return spring and a self adjuster spring such as in the picture on festivamotorsport.com under the owners recources and festiva part diagrams. but i looked on all data and it showed only the e brake return spring and no self adjuster spring so i put it together as on all data and it seems to work fine. strange considering there was two spring on there before

also looks like there's only one spring on the diagram from the haynes manual above

there should be a spring on the bottom side of the adjuster to the plate where the ratcheting part is - I'm looking for a pic

Ok everything highlighted is part of the hardware kit you should have gotten.
Yellow - Hold downs consisting of a spring or spring metal and a pin (if your kit has a spring you will also have a spring keeper to hold the spring on the pin)
Blue - these are the springs that keep you shoes withdrawn
Green - this is what returns the parking brake after you remove the tension
Red - I'm thinking this is the spring your missing it is what keeps your shoes in proper adjustment

yes that's the one but where does it hook on cause i can't seem to find anywhere it might go. and in batstiva's picture and the diagram i sourced on all data it only showed the spring that is represented by green in your picture. it also seems like the adjuster works fine without this mystery spring on it so i'm not to sure what the deal is.

Okay, it looks like that red spring connects on both ends to the self adjuster, and is tensioned when the rear brake shoe is locked in place by the pin and hold down clip, but I'd have to go out and pull a wheel to verify exactly where behind the rear shoe, on the self adjuster, it actually connects. Anyone with a rear wheel/brake pulled already that can verify this?

All mine have been previously disassembled for the spindels.
But seriously, Bazzy16, did you pull appart both sides when you started this?

yes both sides were pulled apart. and i put it all back together minus the red spring and just tried pushing the shoe out to see what the adjuster would do and it worked fine. it swung out and then when the shoe returned it locked it self adjusted out. the diagram on all data has the top blue spring in festiva tunner's diagram labeled as the adjuster return spring aswell as the spring that keeps tension on the shoes. also festiva tunner's diagram is the one i was initially using for refference and every other diagram i've found does not have the red spring in it. so i think i'll just try and run it how it is because everything seems to work and i've looked several times and cannot find any logical place that the spring would attach.
