With a metal one put some sort of sealer around it, the part store can give you the right type. Just make sure you can drive it in straught and all the way. The rubber ones are a breeze to install, just push in hole and tighten down. Take your old one with you to make sure you get the right size.

Awesome. Thanks! Stupid me screwing things up by not putting anti-freeze in the car!

Does anyone know the correct size of the freeze plug for our cars? I gotta send my mom to pick it up for me since I'm at work. Looking on the autozone website they list 2 different sizes for the metal ones....30mm and 35mm, but the rubber ones are only 35mm

Haha, I know! I think the water pump may have gotten messed up as well. Not looking forward to replacing that again, especially in the cold. I have nobody to blame but myself though....live and learn!!

Since all the "anti-freeze" :banghead: is obviously frozen in my car, what's the best way I should go about getting it thawed and drained out of the car? The weather is gonna continue to be pretty cold around here, but I gotta get this car running somehow! I don't wanna make matters worse by starting the car up again. Btw, before I left for work today I pulled the drain plug and disconnected one of the radiator hoses in hopes that some of it would thaw out, but I'm sure what's left in there will be frozen again by the time I get off work

Did some searching....came up with a few options for heating it up. Park it in a heated garage, block heater, engine blanket, pouring hot water on the engine. Not really sure what to do

Put a small heater next to the engine to thaw it out. Or you can start it for a short period to put some heat in it, as long as you don't overheat it you won't do any damage.

Good deal. I'll try that and hopefully I'll be able to get it to my mom's house to do the rest of the work on it

Got the hulkster to my mom's house after work tonight and went straight to work on it. Put the new freeze plug in then poured some water in the rad. to check for leaks. Sure enough the water pump was pouring water! Tore everything apart and got the water pump out and it had a HUGE crack down the side of it.....thanks a lot frozen "anti-freeze" aka "water". So I learned my lesson, and will not forget to put anti-freeze in the car this time!
