If you don't know the dist. is good. Don't assume its good. You would be suprised how many festivas get junked because there not worth the price of a rebuilt dist.

Next cheapest option would be Ignition Coil Spark?

Hook a small 12 volt test light to the +and - leads of the coil. have someone crank it. Should get a pulsing light. If not, check for power at the coil.

if its an early carb'd one, The Ignition module has a lead that from the + side of the coil, make sure its getting power, and it grounds through the block. Make sure the connections are good.

Summary: Its a 1991 ford festiva GL 5sp w/a B6 from an 1989 mazda 323. Was running as of Tuesday morning. Parked it in the street & it wont start but rotates just fine. Did not have spark from the coil. Checked the fusible links(the cartridges). The rotor spins. I checked the timing belt, still good since I replaced it last summer. Swapped Coil out & the other 2 plug in things attached to the coil bracket from marinepolice's car. Replaced the disty with a known working one. Charged the battery. Swapped out with a different working disty.

Getting one of the extra b3 ecu's to plug in tommorow to see if its the ecu. If it is then I just have to figure out where I placed another b6k1 ecu...

                  If not??????????????????????????????????

Its my wifes DD and I really want my festy back so any help would really rock in this case. I've even gone out randomly to start it to see if the gnomes were done messing with the electronics.

Gauge says 1/2 tank, which should be right as we filled up on the way back from Decatur. Have not check for fuel as I'm not getting spark.

I have the same thing going on with Smurffy right now Kemp. I know this sounds stupid, but have you wiggled the wiring harness off the ignition module while trying to start it? For some reason, this works for mine, but I haven't had someone at the barn to help me do it on mine. It was nice when I had the car at the shop, now that I took it home.....well..... it started fine when I parked it there! I'll just blame it being fuel injected instead of carburated....

Maybe you've already done this, and I missed it, but... You have spark at the coil, but nothing at the plugs, correct? Do you know for a fact you have spark at the dizzy end of the coil to dizzy wire? Assuming that in swapping the dizzys you have also swapped the cap at least once?

^^ Good suggestion. I had a bad connection at the cap (coil wire corroded) , and have had rotors that got... well.... questionable.

Hard to imagine it crapping out just sitting there doing nothing, but who knows. Only so many steps between the coil and the plugs, and it sounds like he's covered damn near everything.
