Help!! The left rear side wheel bearing is stuck on the spindle.What can I do?

carefuly cut it off.... take the drum off (done) and then remove as much of the bearing cage as you can so all you have is the inner race left. then take a cutoff wheel and carefuly cut into the race (typicaly at about 60* to perpendicular for wheel clearance). what you're trying to do is not cut all the way through, but cut a channel into the race nearly through and then take a chisle and hammer it into the channel you just cut, this will crack the race and give you the clearance you need to remove the race without damaging the spindle.Originally posted by LAFestiva View PostHelp!! FYI...I have an 88 and it has cotter pins and castle nuts on the spindles.Dan

Dang might have to grab those the next time I see one in the junkyard! Today I replaced the bearing on the drivers side.. lets just say I think it was loose. Had a shimmy at high speeds that I could figure it out apparently that was it as it's gone. That tire probably would of passed me on the way to St. Louis!91 rusty Festiva 260k
