I'm looking at Tom's B6 build thread right now.

How strong is the Aspire tranny? Think it can handle a little boost? Like I said nothing serious...but just making sure.

I will look into the bushings, thanks. Maybe it's just that I'm used to the shift on the Z,but after I replace the bushings is there a way to make the shift's throw shorter? Any kits? I'm going to keep looking at this site a little bit longer.

PU241, I just bought the car today. It's gonna take a while for me to get the car on the road.

Another thing, what's RI's stand on half cages? Will that count on me against safety inspection?

I'm not 100% but I think the aspire tranny is the same as the festiva's with just a different gearing ratio.

Here is a great thread on Trannsmissions

No time like the present to learn.
JPT and I know a little something about these little cars, so you could have gotten a lot of answers without typing.
We both had cars and could have met you wherever you might have been.

Damkid, think we can find some pics of a festiva with 500K miles on it pushing a 300Z down the highway?
I'm sure 5.0zone would like to have one!

No I meant, registering and setting the car up for inspection. Most likely I can drive it legally by Monday.

I'm reading up on Tom's Build right now...as well as the manual tranny FAQ. Many thanks, I really appreciate it and reading these FAQs just make me more excited about this car!

If the car passes inspection with the half cage then I would be glad to meet the people in the Festiva scene.

the aspire tranny had a higher final drive, if I remember correctly... I have never owned an aspire, always stuck with the Festy's and such...

Okay, I read the Rear Mounted turbo thread. Great information and really helped me on understanding the potential of these engines. Is that the only way to mount a turbo to a B6 without resorting to a rear mount format or changing any internals in the engine? Or is there a way to traditionally mount it within the engine bay? The battery has been relocated to the rear hatch so there is a ton of room to mess around in....I can even think of a top mount intercooler system where the battery used to be.

Don't mind me, I'm just thinking creatively....

My main concern now is my tranny....I may have to swap it for my HP goals. 120-130hp was enough for me, especially with the really low weight of these cars.

I'm going to focus on my suspension and brakes first. I'm looking into building more of a road car than a quarter miler for the switchback roads. I'm also going to give it a tune-up which from how the engine starts could really use it The car's steering is also off. It tends to turn sharply more when I turn right then left. A four wheel alignment may be done in the next week or so....I can guess the cause of it is really bad camber on the other end.

I'm going to give the turbo idea a little more thought. A rear mount turbo may not sit well in Providence and its godzilla sized potholes.

I don't believe the rear wheels have any adjustment. So don't pay for a four wheel alignment.

The rear end can be adjusted with shims. It's a pain in the butt, so unless it's waaay off, I wouldn't worry about it.

Welcome! I'm not sure if it was mentioned at all, but you can use a Civic short shift lever if you trim the spring in the shift linkage, and as far as a rear turbo goes, if you invert your spare tire bulge, you can raise the turbo enough to put a shield below it to keep from depositing it into a hole in the road!

I sense sarcasm? Because you're going to need more than a fender roller to invert something like that....oh and the use of civic raises questions.

If i'm wrong I'm sorry...in fact, let me search on here to make sure...
