This problem just started. When I come to a stop & put in the clutch the engine cuts off. No smoke, studdering, or anything , just shuts down. Can restart with no problem & idels okay . '93 EFI, 5 sd. Always starts fine, if I down shift all the way to 1st it won't happen. New fuel filter about a month old, can,t find a vac. leak.:sad4: I did search, could find no problem like this listed, been lokin' for a few days.

VAF gate moves fine. Did have VAF canted almost vertical from normal. Adjusted it back horizontal, I'll see if that helped tomarrow when I drive. Its been like that for several months with no problem,( that I know of).

Mine randomly does the same thing. It will go days without doing in it, then sometimes do it a few times in the same day.

Randon stralling is a symptom of a failing ignition control module. Don't know if it makes sense in tiis case but they can be taken in to some parts stores and tested for free.

Next time it happens don't start it, just turn the key to the run position.
Does the check engine light come on? if yes I would look at the ignition module, if no then most likely a VAF going bad.
I went through this awhile back.

just answered your own question.... one of 2 things, idle screw mis-adjusted (doubtful, but possible), OR sticking IAC stepper motor (more likely). the IAC stops being used once the engine is up to temp, all idle speed control is then taken over by the dashpot (to keep the throtle plate from slaming shut) and the idle set screw.

Fixed it, I hope. It was my own fault. When I first got 'Tiva & did not have a manuel I tried to adjust the idle . I did it with no jumper. I know DUMB!!. I made a jumper last night & re-set idle this morning. Took it for a drive & seems to be okay. I forgot about adjusting the idle. Thanks Festyboy for joggin' my failing memory.:notworthy:
