New fuel filter about a month old, can,t find a vac. leak.:sad4: I did search, could find no problem like this listed, been lokin' for a few days.

Mine randomly does the same thing. It will go days without doing in it, then sometimes do it a few times in the same day.Rick

Randon stralling is a symptom of a failing ignition control module. Don't know if it makes sense in tiis case but they can be taken in to some parts stores and tested for free.Original owner of silver grey carburetted 1989 Festiva. 105k km as of June 2006. 140k km as of June 2021.

Next time it happens don't start it, just turn the key to the run position.
Does the check engine light come on? if yes I would look at the ignition module, if no then most likely a VAF going bad.
I went through this awhile back.Hotrod Forums Directory * D&D Discbrakes 61-67 Econoline Conversions

Fixed it, I hope. It was my own fault. When I first got 'Tiva & did not have a manuel I tried to adjust the idle . I did it with no jumper. I know DUMB!!. I made a jumper last night & re-set idle this morning. Took it for a drive & seems to be okay. I forgot about adjusting the idle. Thanks Festyboy for joggin' my failing memory.:notworthy:
