  • Cuting front frame rail advise

My festy was in an accident (previous owner) and I cannot see myself hammering it out to try to get everything aligned again (bumper, fenders, hood, grill, and lights).

The ''frame'', if you will call it that' needs to be cut about 6'' behind the headlamps.

Is there any advice you could give a noob before attempting it? Or is it a pretty straight forward operation?

I just dont want to encounter any hidden issues and you guys know your vehicles down to the bolts...lol

I want to cut it with a hacksaw or sawsall to keep the lines clean (torch is too messy, but i will if I have to).

    any suggestions guys?

follow factory stamping lines, this way you can dupicate the cuts from both cars. I would only suugest this if no structual damage is being replaced, frame rails tec.

That looks like a big job though. I was hoping that I wouldnt have to take the engine or other parts off...just the radiator..etc.

More than likely you will have to.

Im replacing my rad support and i took my engine and trans out because all the weight is on the cross member and that bolts to the rad support.

You could maybe put a jack under the engine, but i didnt want the frame to shift from the weight of the engine when i removed the rad support.

How much is involved in taking the engine out? I did my tahoe and it was a nightmare ....1000 plugs and vacuum lines and a whole bunch of crap i didnt even know the name of...ahahaha

I have a engine hoist though. I am referring to the technical side of pulling it out.

It's not too hard. I mean im only 19 and that was my first pull and i found it not to be too hard. What i did was get post-it notes and wrote down all the vacuum lines and where they go.
