a little confused as to the removal procedure, manual says tie rod end has to be removed but i dont see that its necessary, an i missing something ????

Tie rods don't need to come off, not sure why it would say that but I never had to when I still had stock brakes lol

Take some pictures if you can so we can understand what you mean. From the sounds of you the 2 units are the hub and rotor. So you need to remove the entire hub unit, and then press the hub off of the rotor. After that you bolt the new rotor onto the hub. I have taken apart the rotor using a sledge hammer, but not advised....

Do you have a Festiva or Aspire? The rotor replacement procedures are quite different between the two. Festiva rotors are "captive" which means that the hub has to be disassembled in order to replace them. Aspire rotors are mounted from the front of the hub so all you have to do in that case is remove the brake caliper and a couple of screws.Ian

from the diagram it looks like the rotor/hub are bolted together, they slide onto the splined shaft and are held on by the halfshaft nut correct ???
BTW my replacement rotor/hub is on assembly and not bolted togetherLast edited by stonemaster; 02-23-2012, 05:31 AM.He said a bad word :nono:
