I replaced it with ATF hose, a piece left over from a retrofit trans cooler kit. No problems in the year it's been on there.

          it's coolant line... 1/4"-5/16" ish.
Hopefully replacing the line will do it, the steel tubes do rot away, and the hose barb coming out of the head can just pull out if you're careless with it.

I used 5/16 fuel line wrapped with a coil of wire to prevent a kink.

Mine rotted and leaked on my 91. It was a molded curved factory piece so i had to use a longer reinforced fuel line piece to keep it from kinking. If i had the original on my festy i would just go ahead and change it out now and avoid future probs on the road somewhere. JUst spent $17 for a gal of antifreeze.

If the parts store will let you go back to where they keep the rad hoses and such you can usually find a 5/16 coolant hose with a ~90* bend in it that can be cut to fit. I don't have any part numbers for ya, but I've done that before. Lately I've just been scavenging a handful of hoses with the proper bend from newer ('05+) cars that I find in JYs. That way I have a stock of hoses that aren't 20 years old

If you do mess up the original steel tube, you can drill and tap the hole to accept a barbed fitting with pipe threads on the end. Just drill, tap, and install the fitting and your back in business.

The bypass hose is readily available at the McParts stores; they will be a bit long, for a variety of applications, so you just cut to fit. If possible, take the old one to match the diameter.

I wonder if this bypass hose is the same size?

I'm willing to put money on it that it is... Mine on the carby engine was dry rotted like that too. If I end up using it on my BP I'm going to have to replace it too.

This comes up a lot. Gates hose part # 18206 is a good replacement. A bit longer. Cut to fit.
