As far as the spring tension goes... It has to be tight, stupid answer I know but I dont have an exact answer for you. And as far as rebuilding goes, you are going to need new bearings & seals. I think the inner bearings are BR9 & the outer is a BR4. The seal is in the inner portion of the drum. And you'll damage it when you take out he inner bearing.I wouldnt put it back together with bearings that were dry/grinding. And if you are going te replace the bearings you might as well have the the drums turned for peace of mind. You need to shop around on the phone with your local JY's and try to locate the adjuster's that have the damaged teeth. Please post some picks of the said broken teeth,I'd like to see what you have going on. Peace-

The bearings, bearing cups and seals are all brand new. I figured the seal would most definitley have to be replaced if anything. Local junkyards don't even have any Festys. The nearest JY is a you-pull-it that has Festys is 100 miles away and they don't check to see if specified parts are available. I will post pics tomorrow.

Also, I wouldn't describe the noise from the rear as a grinding noise. Just poorly lubricated.

Both rear hubs sound this way. I am using the Walmart brand Supertech high temp grease. It is lithium based and is a grade 2.

If all this is true Clay, poor lubrication and noisey bearings.I would inspect my races's for any scoring, otherwise its just going to come back and haunt you. I most likely would chaulk it up to a "learning experience" & install new.And save the old for some back-ups.

Welp, I ended up taking the car to a mechanic. My patience was worn and I didn't have the time to mess with it anymore. So, as I was saying "Oh please, oh please let this little cart make it to town, it started making all kinds of strange noises. We made it to town and as I was riding with the mechanic explaining to him the problems I had been facing, there weren't any noises to be heard. No brakes dragging, no noisy bearings, nothing! I asked if he thought that it just needed to be driven and he said that was most likely the cause. So I went ahead and left it at the shop for him to fix the brights anyway. Should have it back by next week. I'll post again to see if she is still running true.
