Come someone give my the down low on ignition timing? I have a timing like but when I hooked it up the line never got close to the 10 degree mark.

Im not sure if it would run or not but if u set ur motor to tdc and set the dizzy rotor pointing towards the #1 wire on cap then should be good. But if u cant do that.then just pull dizzy out trun rotor 180 put back in and c what happens. Not trying to be rude but if you need walked through the whole timing setup deal call me at 502-264-1391

chris, if the dizzy is 180 out, something is very wrong. the dizzy drive shaft is offset to keep that from happening, as is the cam.Trees aren't kind to me...

My rotor has 3ways it can go on, if its not lined up it wont run. Timing belt deff sounds off a tooth, how far out is your timing. If you ground out the sti wire it will stop the pcmfrom advancing the timing, its how i do it, gives me the accurate timing.Yellow 91 festiva GL 5speed
Red 88festiva L 4spd
Blue 91festiva L 5spd (bad tranny, sloppy suspension)

STI wire is a black plastic (white for carbys?) female plug, near the driver's strut tower/brake MC. It's the only one-wire plug there, I believe; there are several plugs there. Stick something metal into it and ground it against the motor. I use a spade connector permanently in the plug, which also makes it easier to find again, then use alligator clips to connect it to the motor. When I ground the black one and start timing the car as the mark gets closer to the 10 degree the car stalls out.
