I guess he put 2&2 together if its a Festiva and has broken springs is probably on YouTube from the previous owner doing something like that remember when you search for Festivus on YouTube you get about half drag racing videos from people on here and halfe a bunch of teenagers destroying them

How do you think two springs broke in the same place like that? All by themselves? Maybe a factory defect?
I like that flying Le Sabre. I thought that was pretty cool.

No, it is made from the same lot of coil steel. It is certified as meeting specification. Your car had to have been abused by jumping. That is the only way both front coils could have snapped in exactly the same spot. Does anyone know if springs are considered to be a safety item like brakes, seat belts and airbags?
If anyone bought a factory spring, there would be a triangle on the part label.

I bet scrappers/ metal thieves tried to cut them off when his car was parked at the park and ride along the highway but when they realized they were made of COAL they just left them

$45 bucks on ebay could get you some honda coilovers.... I would go for the metal ones, not the coal ones. A tad stiffer ride though.

Wishful thinking that Ford might admit to a defective spring on a 16 year old car. Two of my Festys have had broken springs at one time or another and a 97 Aspire that I took apart a few years ago had broken springs all around. Typically this occurs through corrosion at contact points or inside the rubber boots.
Get yourself a set of early Rio springs from a U Pull or an auto wrecker; least expensive option.
