  • wont get gas

OK I got my newly bought country yard find, 88 festiva lx home and digging on in.
Its been setting for five years+ , so before any thing I pulled the fuel pump and sucked out a small amount of bad gas. Tested the pump and its done so Ive got one ordered.
Next I disconnected fuel line and filter( gonna replace). I got itching to hear it run Somehow so I sprayed gas into the intake and turned it over and she runs!
So I wanted to see if injectors works so I tried pouring gas into the piece of line to the fuel rail and I hooked up an air hose first 5psi then 10 then 15 and no luck she won't run.

So I pulled injectors and tested theem buy hooking up a charge and blowing through , they all work.
I even ran injector cleaner through them and I did pour alil marvel oil in each plug hole a while before start up.
But the only way she runs is with gas sprayed into intake.
Any suggestions while I wait for the pump!?

5 psi won't do it I'm not sure if any amount with an air hose will.
It's like 40 to the rail stock. You could check for injector click with a length of garden hose and someone to turn it over.
Using the hose like a stethoscope you should be able to hear them clicking.

Now they clicked when I hadem off.
What would cause my system not to send power to them I wonder?

Yes door says 88 and it is efi, automatic trans , like I say she will fire up only with gas sprayed into the intake. I know the injectors work because I had all four off and tested.

Sounds like the date would be late 88 and it's an 89 model.

                        no power at injectors

I have discovered I have no power at my injectors.
Can any one think of what will cause this.

Check the EGI fusible link. It is located near the drivers shock tower in the engine bay. IIRC, it is the power supply for fuel injection.

AFAIK fuel injection with auto trans didn't come in until half 'way through '89 model year.
Which, of course, is irrelevant to the gentlman's problem.
