Might not need the spindle if we can use the Aspire one you already have mounted.
Just thinking if it was cheap we could us it or you could have sold it.
Uh, don't understand why you would have got a rotor though.

Yes, you should, there are at least two people looking for one or a set now.

The spindle is the piece the brake drum slides onto.

The back plate is held in place by the spindle. It is sandwiched between the spindle and the rear beam. Someone please correct me if im wrong.

The large crush nut that holds the drum on, 29mm iirc, fastens onto the spindle.

Yes, that is why I previously asked you to look at the nuts, not bolts behind your current back plate.

How did you get the back plate from the junkyard if you didn't remove the spindle?

Just confirming, you do have a Festiva drum?

You need to really clean-up the backing plate from the JY.
Wouldn't hurt to give the back side of it (not the side that hold the brake shoes) a coat or two of paint.
The front side needs to be cleaned very well too, but no paint.

Before you do anything else we need to check:
                          1) can we use the existing Aspire spindle you have?
                          2) Can we use the wheel cylinder already on your car, because the one attached to the backing plate you got from the JY has seen better days. I do not know if the Aspire and Festiva wheel cylinders are the same I will have to research that.
                          3) You are going to need new rear brake hardware; the springs, clips, and pins you see on the JY backing plate.
                          4) I'm pretty sure the Aspire self adjuster will not fit on the Festiva backing plate. You are going to have to really clean and free up the adjuster. This is going to require more penetrating oil and a good wire brush and a small hammer and vise.

Then we can do the swap.
