Same as on the backing plate you got from the JY, but new.
I do not trust the hardware on your backing plate.
Unless it cleans up well and is not badly corroded.
This set has hardware for both drums, but you only need half of this:

I have an Aspire axle with Aspire axle stubs with Festiva backing plates (one hole modified to match the Aspire axle pattern as well as the dangle cut off the Aspire axle) and Festiva drums, had to use Aspire dust caps on the Festiva drums.1963 Fairlane - future NSS drag car

So he can use the Aspire spindle he has already mounted.
This "dangle" does he really have to cut it off?
Or does it otherwise interfere with the something like the self adjuster and parking brake component?
You modified only one hole of the backing plate, I would have thought modifying all four holes slightly would help center the plate and keep the brakes concentric.
I assume the Aspire spindle nut covers/caps are used because the Aspire spindle is longer?Last edited by Pu241; 06-02-2014, 05:10 PM.'93 Blue 5spd 230K(down for clutch and overall maintanence)

The Festy backing plate has a hump that keeps the spindle from laying flat. The dangley, I guess you could call it an appendix because I don't know what its good for.1963 Fairlane - future NSS drag car

Here are my pics of my rebuild.
You can see where the dangle was cut off (you can see why it was cut off with the bump in the backing plate), you'll also notice that the bolt above the cut off dangle is slightly outboard of the vertical centerline of the lower bolt at the dangle. This is the only difference in the axle bolt pattern as the Festiva pattern is rectangular and the Aspire is a rombus. A round file or a sanding roll or carbide bit in a die grinder and you can slot that hole for the axle stud to line up, the other 3 holes are unmodified.

Think you can re-use the wheel cylinder from the Aspire backing plate, but I need to check on some numbers.
Do you have some way of cutting off the "dangle" Mr Hampton talks about in his pics he posted above?'93 Blue 5spd 230K(down for clutch and overall maintanence)

Just trying to save you some money.
You might e able to sell the aspire backing plate/Spindle/drum assembly, and get some money back.
Depending on the year, you may not get a spindle that is drilled for the castellated nut and cotter pin like you have on your aspire spindle which you can use on the Festiva spindle.
You might have to get crush nut or get the dimension of the Festiva drilled spindle and drill your own.
The castellated nut assembly is much nicer.'93 Blue 5spd 230K(down for clutch and overall maintanence)

The dangle is, the extra metal hanging off the lower corner, in my top pic its on the lower right, in the bottom pic, its the lower left. If you look at your spindle, you'll see what I mean. It can be cut off in a vise with a hacksaw or a cutoff wheel, or even a sawzall. Mine was already cut off as I parted a car with the bastardized system. I wanted the Aspire rear beam but wasnt ready for the different pattern on my wheels.1963 Fairlane - future NSS drag car
