HELP electric external fuel pump getting to hot!

You are right moving a factory festy carb model does use a return as does a fuel injected version. I spoke incorrectly.On injected vws when we converted them to carbs we put a restrictor in the return line so they wouldn't bypass to much fuel same on gm with tbi going to carb.I have been an A tech ASE certified Since 1985 Worked at VW dealership GM dealership and 2 independent VW specialty shops.That is why I joined this forum because most everything I know is VW or GM based I do not no or all the specifics on the festiva.If we were using your average cheap aftermarket low pressure pump or a factory mechanical pump we ran them with no return line just like all the carbed VWs came from the factory and just like all the factory carbed small block Chevy's.And no we did not block any fuel tank vents.Didn't ' mean to p you off.
