Ok so my heat stop working, someone said it was the heater core needing to be replaced, I ordered one then realized the car was getting hot inside the car when heater was on, but blowing cool air out of to vents. But from what I'm reading I could just replace the thermostat and it week fix theproblem?

Thermostat is the cheaper and easier thing to try first. But since you already ordered a heater core might as well replace both

Not really sure I think they are the same actually. I put my b3 thermostat in my b8-me and it works amazingly. When I originally bought the engine it had no thermostat. I do know the stock b3 engines don't get very warm

I built a heater box in my center console tray area. I used a small heater core inside a box i built out of metal air duct meterial. I cut a hole in the back and stuck a computer fan on it. It works enough to keep me from freezing. I need to redo it and make it more efficient.1990 (LUCIFER 2.0) fully built BP+T with E153, Fueltech FT500, traction control with hopes of 600hp (i drank to much of the KOOL-AID)

Make sure your heat is set to floor or defrost it doesn't heat threw the vents .
And in my experience both tstats are the same the "2 stage" oem one may heat up faster but I can't tell if yiu want a cheap 2 stage oem type go to autozone and get one for a 92 miata it's the oem type for like 12 bucks.Last edited by william; 12-29-2015, 04:21 PM.

But congratulations on doing end run around the stupid placement of Festiva heater core. I have thought of doing that, thus me finding the above article. In past I have owned vehicles with $$$ heater cores or fans. Or ones buried like the Festiva. Either cobbled something or lived without heat or in case of the Festiva, just park it for the winter. Its not a great winter car for my situation, heat or no heat. Anyways, engineers that design such PITA heaters need good dope slap to back of head.

I get very little air out of my defrost vents, and still plenty from the floor vents when the selector is all the way over to the right, on defrost. I'm thinking the sealing is pretty much gone around the blend doors.90 Festy (Larry)--B6M (Matt D. modified B6 head), header, 5-speed, Capri XR2 front brakes, many other little mods
