I wonder what the odds that one of these dual stage thermos could be found in a junkyard. Looks like most Mazda's and even Kia's had this thermostat. The cheap part of me really wants to go look tomorrow.. looks like I'm going to need another thermostat for the yellow 91. I swear that car hate thermostats. Went through 3 motoraids and the one in it is a stant.

I've gotten brand new parts that didn't work too!
So just so long as he tests it before putting it into his car I don't see any harm.
It's not like a master cylinder were a seal failure in degraded polymer can kill you. Mainly, because you don't have anyway to test the seal under real, say sudden stop, conditions.'93 Blue 5spd 230K(down for clutch and overall maintanence)

trying to figure out whether it's the t-stat or the heater core, I'm thinking it's the T-stat.... because the heat worked wonderful before I changed it 2 years ago when I replaced the head gasket. at that point my dad was driving it and it was (and still is) my mom's car that we drove interchangably. since the t-stat replacement it heats up (according to the gauge) but I turn the heat to the highest setting and get nothing, where before the heat through the dash vents blew hot enough to run you out of the car, unlike any car I've driven before or since, I get defroster heat, it doesn't blow all that warm but it does blow warm.... I'm driving it this winter (the polar express is my project car for 2011) to and from High School and (when I get one) a job. I'm driving it also because dad quit driving it and started using his '04 Tacoma as his DDAndrew Walker

Can someone tell me what a ballpark warm up time is? Lets say 30-40 degrees in little to no wind...what's an average time to get it warm enough to open the tstat and then kick on the fan?
I did my tstat this morning (man is it a pain to get that bottom bolt with big hands) and it really didn't seem to warm up any faster than it did before.
