That is so totally cool. Man, how huge! How much power does one of those things put out, and do they make huge 'whooshing' sounds when they're cruising?
Remember "I" before "E", except as in Budweiser.

Pretty cool stuff. North Palm Springs has 3,100 of them that powers the city. Produce 600-900 megawatts.

Not sure on the machines pictured but ours (Vestas V82's) produce 1.65 Megawatts

Whats your part in erecting wind mills? For the most part all of the numbers youre saying are witihin 2 feet/ton of what were dealing with. They are Gamesa windmills.

I had a chance to climb up the tower yesterday but we finally got our crane to a open spot after we were done with our part and I was able to play around with it for a couple hours. Im really liking this windmill stuff now. Were getting 75-80 hours a week, everything is slowpaced per the general contractors procedures. I just have a feeling once I get a good grasp on this wind mill thing, my company is gonna pull me off this job to send me on another:/

I also popped my windmill cherry today by tailling the spike(the last piece of the tower section.) Everyone was pleased with my performance. My operator told me he plans on having me running the crane so well by the end of september that all he'll have to do is call me from his house to find out what to put on his time sheet

                  Great pics, Niklid!

These things are part of the future.

I hope to one day move into the boonies and build my own. Ahem, slightly smaller though!

Here's a link to a cool "DIY" site:
