This is what I did to stripe my bumpers. 1st, spray the bumper with a couple of good coats of black bumper coating & let dry thoroughly (several days). Then use low strength painter's tape & mask off above & below the stripe 1 to 2 tape widths. Then tape down an adequate amount of paper to protect the car from overspray. I used newsprint, but I've been told that's the #1 Cardinal Sin of Spray Painting. To spray the red stripe I just used a good paint suitable for plastic.

Focustiva: Because I was told it was was impossible to fit a Focus bumper on a Festiva.

What did you do to prep the bumper? Did it require any sanding? Has anyone else painted bumpers?
      Thanks!
All I did was clean it with Klean-Strip brand Auto Prep then paint a couple coats of Satin Black, then masked off the stripes and painted them, No sanding involved.

I hope the paint holds up...I prepped mine and even used bumper paint and it started peeling before a year was up. But your bumper looks great...a little dark for me but still looks good.

Yeah it's rust oleum universal paint that can be used on plasics, thats supposed to be really durable so we'll have to wait and see.... Thanks! I think it'll look good with the front painted the same way, and LX moldings, and black wheels

Looks great! Will look even better once the sides and front bumper is done. It seems you're really dedicated with this car. It's come a long way in a short time since it came into your possession

Thanks! Yes I am really, really dedicated to bringing this Festiva back to it's former glory and then some because I couldn't let it slowly die....and this is something I had been wanting to do for a while.
