I have always heard that Honda engines last "forever".

I can understand the torque to HP ratio is off, but does anyone have any other complaints?

no complaints here on any honda's i've had. high revving, bullet proof motors that get awesome mileage. the torque loss can be compensated for by just shifting down a gear, hills were never a problem for me in 5th gear with my 92 integra b18, 91 crx d16, or 95 ex coupe w/ sohc vtec. you have kids around here running 200k mile integras and civics bouncing off thier rev limiters daily. those who dis on hondas have probably never owned a 1988+ honda.

very nice looking, lots of hard work evident, but I just plain don't like Honda engines. In my experience, they're too finiky (sp?). They're pretty dang robust in stock form, but are sensetive to modifications. Also, I've seen my fair share stock engines grenade themselves, even with proper maintenance. Lost count of how many broken camshafts I've seen. That's what drew me to the Mazda engines in our Festies. You can fill the crankcase with rocks and mud, and she'll still run strong. Several of you will tell me I'm wrong, and that's fine. I just know what I've seen in 15 years in the repair business.

one thing thats for sure is that there are MANY more 15+ year old hondas running around here than mazda/fords. i have loved all my festivas, but i don`t knock hondas because of it. the beatings i see hondas taking daily is just unbelievable and they just keep running.

on the other hand, i like nissan motors too. i've always wanted to take the sr20de motor/lsd trans out of my sentra se-r and put it in a festy.

now see, down here, there's almost NO 15+ year old Hondas OR Mazdas running around. But plenty of 15-25 year old Fords and GMs. I'm not knocking Hondas, I just personally don't care for them.

And I also like Nissan engines, but not Mitsu.

Anybody know if an SR20DET has ever been transplanted into a Festy??

i think Evogun on this site put a gtir sr20det in his festiva and also made it awd. i have a spare sr20de motor/tranny/crossmember, just no fabrication skills :-(
