  • The Fun Bridge :)

I posted this pic a few weeks ago, of a bridge near my house covered in two feet of snow.

Here it is now. The river froze, backed up, ran over the bridge, and dropped. Freezing as it went down.

Nothing like a 12 ft. wide skating rink, eh?

I hate when my GPS take me to bridges like that. Especially when I'm on a schedule and I'm in a box truck!

Who would cross the Bridge of Death must answer me these questions three, ere the other side he see!

          WHAT... is your name?
          I am Batstiva!

          WHAT... is your quest?
          To seek the other side!

WHAT... is the traction coefficient of a 2 inch layer of ice on a bridge?
What do you mean? On concrete or gravel?

          Uhhh... I - I don't know that.... aaaauuuughhhh!!

How is it that you've come to know so much about bridges, Liege?

You have to know that sort of thing when you live in West Virginia.

            Nicely done Sam.

Not a chance I'd touch that bridge. Beside it looking like most vehicles would slide right into the river, it looks way cold.

Although I would be tempted to try it if I had a Festiva with tank tracks on it LOL I think that may be what you need Batstiva.

I remember going with a friend to WV to his Grandmothers house and we came down what he called a road to a creek and the road ended. I said great now what? He turned in the creek and drove about 40-50 feet and pulled back out onto the road.

A few years ago, I worked around Allegheny County, MD. Checked my map, and Town Creek road looked like a good short cut. Popped up over a little hill, and the road crossed through the creek. No biggie, I got four wheel drive. Went through, around a bend, and the road disappeared into the creek again. No idea where it came out on the other side. Turned around and took the long way.

Oh, and just cause I'm a :tard:, I had to try the bridge. Festy handled it like a champ. What's hard to tell from the pic is that the bridge tilts a bit to the up river side. Almost can't stand on it now, without sliding, but the car handled it great. Love Festivas in the snow/ice!!

Well, being twelve foot wide and you driving a Festiva, I bet you could have slid over 1-2 car widths and still been fine lol

I think I might be more afraid of it with all the snow on it not knowing the snow might be a false edge.
