Just keep in mind....... the water will be back to take the ice. Old folklore, but seems to hold true. Have you lost power yet this year? This looks like one of those weeks coming up. I feel your pain, but I have been able to get out so far this year to make it to work. This may change for me soon for the same reason.... water/ice.

True. They "improved it" a couple of years ago. Before that, it was maybe 9 feet wide, with a wicked bend in the middle.

Wouldn't be as much fun now, someone dumped ashes, or something on the ice, not nearly as slick now as it was a couple of hours ago.

You are correct, sir. That's actually what happened to the snow. River came up and cleaned off the bridge. Haven't lost power yet. (Knocks on head for luck) I agree, this week is supposed to be windy, and cold as crap, with snow showers every day. Oh Joy!!

Have not had any problem getting out. Made it in to work the Sat. of the big snow here, only to find out the boss had pansied out and stayed home.

I have made it to work to find the same a couple of times. We lost all the food in the fridge a couple of weeks ago with that wet snow, and I hope that another six days of snow like we are looking at will not be a replay. At least the snow right now is the dry fluffy powder like I remember from out west.
I have lost the "pioneer" spirit already for this winter, myself.

My goodness... that is one thing I have never had to contend with, thankfully. My winters consits of 'cold' days being, at most, a low of 10-15 deg cel! I have never seen snow and the only ice I slide on is in the ice rink (or when my two year old leaves cubes on the kitchen floor! rofl).

Why didn't you just put the food in your yard? Or pack some coolers with snow?

Ha, sounds like Florida.. almost. It's quite chilly right now. Just under 40degF

So, for about the same price as a fully-loaded 1993 Ford Festiva, you could also wield the power to obliterate a small village in the blink of an eye.

Are you sure you wasn't somewhere else? Cause i live about 10miles away from Town Creek Rd. and i've never drove through the creek lol.

Just warm enough outside to still lose all the frozen food. I use a cooler for the basics otherwise. It gets fun after the third day without power. It was one of those wet snows that broke pine trees off, and weighted down power lines. They had power crews in from three states that I saw personally, and some went without for 15 days because of the remote location of the poles that had to be replaced.

I knew it didn't look right when I typed it. Peach Moonshine, what can I say? It's actually Lower Town Creek Rd., between Flintstone and Oldtown MD.

Wow, hope they get you up and running soon, Mike. We had a lot of snow, but it was the dry, fluffy kind. Supposed to get a few more inches tomorrow.:angryfire:

That was the last snow. This one WAS dry & fluffy, but our luck changes again tommorow night when it is turning to wet snow, with heavier accumulations as I understand it. Batten down the hatches!!! Here we go again!!!!
I heard a local forcaster say this may be the 20 year kind of winter for us......I hope he is wrong!

That would be Jan. 96. 3 feet of snow in my yard one day, 3 feet of river in my yard the next day.

The morning of the flood, at 8 am, it was 80 degrees and thunderstorming, at 3 pm, it was snowing and sticking. Temp dropped about 60-65 degrees in less than 8 hours.
