The abandoned Rock Island railroad bed that runs through the ranch. Been clearing it out lately. Cinder lined and makes good access to the property.



One of the rock culverts that run under the bed. Last train service was over 100 yrs ago. One of the culverts is big enough to stand up in.

This bat was knocked down when I opened the garage door at the shop. The pictures aren't the best because I used my cell phone.

Yeah you can eat them. They have a banana ish flavor. In fact some people call them prairie bananas. We had some pawpaw pudding last year and a pawpaw nut bread. Cool bat, we have some around our place but not near that big. Had one in the bedroom once even, the wife didnt approve.

Sweet huming birds. We don't get them very much around here. Looks like you have a couple of different types there.
